The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Earlier in the week myself, Luke and my parents enjoyed a night at Milton Keynes Theatre to watch The Rocky Horror Show and it was AMAZING.

We've seen the show a few times before, and the film is one of my all-time favourites, so I did go in knowing what to expect and I was not at all disappointed.

The narrator, played by Norman Pace, was hilarious and he responded so well to the audience's shouting out. Whilst narrators can sometimes fade into the background in comparison to other characters, this one really stood out for me and made the whole show just that little bit more funny and enjoyable.

Diana Vickers played Janet Weiss, which I didn't realise at all until I looked it up this morning, and she portrayed her character perfectly, which I think must be pretty hard to do as Janet is notoriously nasal in her speech and song!

My favourite character by far though will always be Columbia.  In this show, she was played by Sophie Linder-Lee and I think that she was excellent. Columbia always makes me laugh and, from her outfit to her singing, she is such a stand out character.

If you do get the chance to go and see The Rocky Horror Show I would definitely implore you to go, it's always touring around the UK and is such a fun performance to go to. Remember to get up and join in with the Time Warp dance!

I hope you enjoyed this post - I'm currently sat pre-writing and scheduling a few posts before my trip to Edinburgh tomorrow so that I don't miss any!

What is your favourite show to watch at the theatre?

  1. I've never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show live, but I definitely want to! I studied an MA in performance, so I'll go and watch any kind of thing really!
The last musical I went to go see though was Legally Blonde and I'd really recommend it because it's so bright and positive.
