Yesterday morning my parents and I got up early (way too early for a Saturday!) and took the dogs to Ashridge, a beautiful park/wood near Dunstable.
Ashridge has a really under-rated, incredible cafe that serves all day breakfast and was pretty busy, even at 9:30am. There was also a lot of people with dogs too, so I was in my element.
I went for the veggie breakfast (2 veggie sausages, toast, tomato, fried egg and mushrooms) and my parents had bacon and egg baps. The dogs had doggie sausages, which seemed very popular!
After breakfast, we went for our walk. The scenery at Ashridge is unbeatable and the weather made our morning all the more enjoyable. The woods are so large that, even with a full carpark, it never really feels too busy.
After walking we tried the really cool looking coffee/smoothie/juice/porridge van that was in the carpark. The guy who owned it (I didn't get his name) was so friendly and the drinks were delicious! I went for coffee as I was super tired, but next time I will definitely be trying a juice.
If you are ever anywhere near it, Ashridge is a really great place to go for breakfast, lunch or even just a walk, especially in the summer.
The small cafe shop has some really lovely bits and pieces, the monument is huge and most of the time it's open to walk up too. We had a lovely morning; sometimes family time and good weather is all you really need!

Recently I have been trying out the capsule wardrobe trend so I am currently not shopping for clothing for three months (!!), but that hasn't stopped me from doing a bit of online window shopping, which seems to be a habit that I'm struggling to break!
These are a few of my favourite summer pieces available at the moment:
As soon as I saw these shoes I fell in love. I think a style like this is timeless and would go with everything. The heel isn't too high either, which is perfect for someone like me who cannot walk in high heels at all!
As soon as I get in from work or uni I get straight into my pyjamas, I love them and I think that this cosy pair from Next would be perfect for lounging around the house before bed.
I had a gorgeous dress like this last year, from another brand, but it shrunk. Before that, though, it was my favourite, so easy to wear and perfect for hot weather!
This bomber is so, so pretty. It is definitely my favourite piece in this blog post and (in my opinion) is a pretty timeless item too!
I already have two pairs of Nike trainers and they are the comfiest shoes I have ever owned. Plus, the bright colours really jazz up an outfit and I think this pink is perfect for summer.
I am a huge fan of patterned trousers, they are so easy to wear and these ones look so comfy. They would be perfect to dress up or down and I wish that they were in my wardrobe!
I couldn't resist including this skirt, it's gorgeous. This would be so perfect for a summer event or wedding, and is seriously making me wish that I had one to go to!
This is a bit more dressy and something that would be great for a night out any time of year. It's not too low cut either, and looks like it's cut in a really flattering way.

As promised in my
What am I Looking Forward to? blog post a little while ago, today I am writing about
ValeFest, a small student-run festival at The Vale of the University of Birmingham (I went a bit picture-crazy as I was using my camera rather than my phone!).
The festival was on Saturday (June 4th) and we were so lucky with the weather, it was one of the warmest days of the year so far! There were multiple stages, stands and food stalls - enough to keep everyone entertained for hours.
We had a great time watching the dance tent, which later on in the evening was getting pretty full as people became increasingly merry! But my favourite was the acoustic stage/tent, which was small but cosy, hidden away behind the trees.
The main stage was always surrounded by people and from what we watched I could see why! Honestly, I had never heard of any of the acts that were advertised for the event but I was thoroughly impressed with all the talent that was on show.
The festival was so pretty, there were loads of hidden little 'accessories' amongst the trees that added to the festival vibe, and what we tried of the food (a mint and cookie dough chocolate pot) was lovely too!
My only criticism would be the speed in which the food stalls ran out of food - we ended up going back to our flat to eat as there was nothing left that we fancied, although at the start of the afternoon there was an impressive selection. Hopefully that's something that will be noted and improved for next year.
I will definitely be re-attending ValeFest next June, it was such a fun day and the perfect way to relax and unwind after far too much exam stress, as well as a way to celebrate the end of first year. The event isn't just limited to students at the university so, if you are in the area, it is certainly a day out that I would recommend!
